We are very sad to bring you tidings that our own Mistress Achren of the Debatable Lands passed away this weekend. Please heed the words of John the Artificer:
Mistress Achren (Ruth Reilly) of BMDL passed peacefully Sunday evening after a long chronic illness. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral. Please do not send flowers, a charitable donation is suggested instead.
Cards may be sent to the Reilly Family, 1753 Beechwood Blvd. Pittsburgh PA 15217. Email condolences may be sent care of my email: email@example.com.
These last several years she was not up to attending SCA events. She missed seeing her many friends.
We are greatly saddened by this, and have missed her quick wit and mischievous smile. Our heartfelt condolences to those that were close to her. We welcome ideas on how to honor her memory here in our Barony.
Baron Brandubh and Baroness Hilda
Unto the Barony, greetings from Kameshima, Webminister!
I hope you are all finding Stórfréttir, the new incarnation of the Baronial Blog, helpful and informative. As we continue to move forward to make Stórfréttir the focal point for information dissemination throughout the Barony, I am thrilled to announce some new additions to the Baronial web site and the Stórfréttir interface that should make Stórfréttir even easier to use and access.
- Direct Subscription – If you do not subscribe to the Barony’s email list but still want to receive Stórfréttir posts in your email, you can now subscribe directly! Go to the Stórfréttir front page (http://www.debatablelands.org/blog/) and enter your email in the “Subscribe to Stórfréttir” widget along the right side of the page to receive a confirmation email to add your email address to the distribution list.
- Author Login – There are now two menu items listed under Stórfréttir in the main web site menu. The “Author Login” menu item takes you to the login page, and if you have a Stórfréttir account, you can log into your account there in order to author new posts.
- Stórfréttir FAQ – Have questions about Stórfréttir, be it how to log in and post, or what is needed to read? Click “Stórfréttir FAQ” under the Stórfréttir menu to go to our FAQ to read all about it!
Also, remember that clicking directly on the “Stórfréttir” menu item will take you to the Stórfréttir front page.
As always, your Webminister team stands ready to assist you in any way we can to make the most of our new and continually improving features. Send any questions you may have to webminister at debatablelands dot org.

Ever in Service,
There will be fencing practice tomorrow, December 17, from 2-6 at the Chinese Church. Loaner equipment for both fencing and Cut n’ Thrust is available.
A message from the Knight marshal regarding practice for the next two weeks:
“As any of you who have looked at the calendar will have figured out, the next two Sundays after this one are Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve. I would like to know how many people are available, and interested, in fighting on those days. If you are a fighter, or fencer, and would like to fight on either of those two Sundays, please let me know. If you are interested, please send an e-mail to KSprague1959 at Gmail dot Com. If enough people are interested, we will have practice.”
If you are interested on attending practice on either December 24 or December 31 let Lord Robert know as soon as you can, otherwise practice will be cancelled until January 7.
There will be fight practice on December 17 from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Chinese Church. Loaner armor will be available.

A Call for SNOWBALLS!
We are in search of good snowball builders, for our BMDL Twelfth Night Event. The snowballs are the size of baseballs, sewn together with colored cloth and stuffed with stuffing and a superball in the middle to give it some weight without hurting anyone. Please bring any contributions to the BMDL Twelfth Night event in time for the snowball fight at 2:30pm, January 13th.
If you have additional questions please contact Katheryn Täntzel at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Greatings Debatable Lands,
I wanted to greet everyone as the new Chronicler for the Barony. My name is Greg Straub, known to the society as Tigerna Alister Sionnach MacLeod. I had been the deputy chronicler for the last two years and as of Wednesday I am the current officer to serve in the roll. I will be publishing more information about it in the near future but I have some changes I would like to make with regard to the office and work on modernizing the job of chronicler that at times has seemed out of place in the modern world.
I look forward to working with many members of the Barony to gain insight and articles to share, please contact me if you have any interest in serving with the office of chronicler or if you just want to contribute an article.
Your’s in service,
Tigerna Alister Sionnach MacLeod
As you rummage around in closet, attic, and cellar looking for those boxes of holiday decorations, keep an eye out for stuff you no longer need. These are things for the Twelfth Night Auction of Forgotten Treasures ™!
I will gladly pick up contributions of no-longer-needed garb and gear, kids’ stuff, camping do-dads, and other items of interest to SCAdians. Send a Faceybook PM to Elss Augsburg (other contact info in the Dark Pages) and we will find a mutually agreeable time/place to meet–fighter practice would work, or any Panera or Starbucks, or even a tea shop! Of course, you can always simply bring the things to the event.
Autocrats, here is how you clear out your Lost and Found!
The Auction has been a phenomenal success thanks to the many generous contributors and donors and forgetful attendees. I just can’t hardly wait to see what turns up this year!
Thank you, thank you all — Elss
