From the Master of Cookies

Once again at Baronial Twelfth Night on January 12th, we will search for the finest bakers of cookies in the Kingdom.

Those who wish to compete should bring a large sampling for the populace and a separate plate of ten cookies to be set aside for the judges. All cookies will be open for populace judging throughout the day. Submissions will be accepted starting at 10:00 and judging will begin at 11:00 and continue until 4:00.

This year, pending availability, Their Excellencies, Brandubh and Hilderun, will pick their winners. If the King and Queen of Fools are selected early enough, they too will be judges. Please remember that Maistir Brandubh requires gluten-free selections and there are others in our Barony that have similar restrictions. Should be joined by any "special guests," they may be asked to serve.

There will be a populace's choice as well judged the same way the pie contest was run at last Barony Meeting by dropping beans as votes for the cookie of choice.

Please include a recipe if you wish and any nutritional information to protect our Barony.

Potluck Details

For the potluck, please visit our potluck site and let us all know what you're bringing!

Also, please remember to mark all of your containers, tools, and utensils, and be sure to know what allergens your food contains. Masking tape and note cards for marking things will be available onsite.

Baronial Bardic Champion Competition

Bardic competition will begin at 2pm in the Silver Room.

In honor of Baron Brandubh turning 40, the theme for this competition, which you may use or not as you like, is Joy and Celebration. However, entries on all themes are welcome.

The winner will serve as Baronial Bard for one year, receive a lovely baldric and belt favor to wear proudly for their year in office, and will represent the Barony-Marche in the 7 Pearls Bardic competition to be held on Labor Day weekend at the Shoot in the Wildwood event in the Barony of Delftwood (Syracuse, NY).

Prepare your songs, stories, and voices, and show us your bardic might at 12th Night!

A reminder: All may enter for the delight of the populace, but please note that only residents of the Debatable Lands, and those that hold Friendship (Green) Comets, are eligible to serve as Champion.

Baronial Arts & Sciences Championship Display

All Artisans are invited to create a Display, to assist the Baron and Baroness in choosing this year's Arts & Sciences Champion. Finished or in progress, bring your best! We have the best artisans in the Kingdom - let's remind them!

You may display as many or as few works as you like, in any (safe) way, with as much documentation as you like, in any form. If you'd like to be considered for Champion without displaying, please let our outgoing champion, Mistress Fredeburg, know, and you will be considered. People with large displays should consider bringing their own small table if possible. More recent works and (at least some) documentation are encouraged. Good luck!

Note: This display is to assist in Champion selection and is not a competition. No individual pieces/works in the Debatable Lands A&S Champions' Display were entered into competition on Jan 12, 2019, and the selected Champion's display itself will not be considered to have "won", either in whole on in part (individual pieces/works), in any respect.

Again, a reminder: only residents of the Debatable Lands, and those that hold Friendship (Green) Comets, are eligible to be selected as Champion.

Auction of Highly Desirable Things

Do you have garb, fabric, tools, cups, or anything else SCA related that needs a new home? Donate it to our Auction of Highly Desirable Things and help out both the Barony and other local members. Please email our Exchequer with a lost of what you are bringing to donate so that the event staff can do their best to have enough table space to accommodate the entire auction.
