Stórfréttir is the BMDL's web log and focal point of information dissemination. By posting to Stórfréttir, your message will reach the vast majority of members of the Barony whether they get their information from the email list, Facebook, Twitter, direct subscription to Stórfréttir, or any of a number of other information outlets.

Below are a number of frequently asked questions regarding Stórfréttir. If you have a question regarding Stórfréttir and don't see an answer here, please email your question to the Webminister by clicking here.

No. Anyone can read Stórfréttir posts by simply browsing to the blog page.

Yes. In order to ensure quality content, we require that all posts be made by users that have been approved by the Webminister.

If you fall into one of the following categories, you already have a Wordpress account configured for you to make posts to Stórfréttir:

• Officers and their Deputies (sharing the officer's account)
• Guildmasters
• Martial Activity Leaders

You have one of two options:

1. If you are an event autocrat or other position that will need to make posts to Stórfréttir, you can request an account by emailing the Webminister (link above).
2. If you would like to make a single post to Stórfréttir, you can email a request to the Webminister with your content and they will make the post on your behalf as soon as possible.

Select "Author Login" from the Stórfréttir menu to go to the Stórfréttir login page. Enter your username and password and click the blue "Log In" button.

Email the Webminister and they will tell you your username.

Click the "Lost your password?" link on the Stórfréttir login page and enter your username.

Once you have logged in, there are three ways you can start a new post:

1. On the black bar across the top of your browser window, near the left side, you will see "+ New". Click on that.
2. Hover your mouse over the "+ New" item listed above and click "Post" from the dropdown menu that appears.
3. On the black bar down the left side of your browser window, hover your mouse over the "Posts" item and click "Add New" from the dropdown menu that appears.

This will bring you to the "Add New Post" screen. From there:

1. Enter the title and content of your post in the appropriate boxes. If you are HTML-savvy, you can use the "Text" tab at the upper right side of the content box to directly edit the HTML of your post; if not, you can simply use the Visual Editor and the style buttons along the top to format your content.
2. In the "Categories" section along the right side of the page (you may have to scroll down to see it), select at least one category relevant to your post. If none of them are applicable, select "Uncategorized" or contact the Webminister to request an addition.
3. When you are done, click the blue "Publish" button in the "Publish" section along the right side of the page.

That's it! Your post will be listed on Stórfréttir, added to the list of recent posts on the front page of the website, and disseminated to the mailing list and the various social media outlets used by the Barony.

1. Once you have logged in, you will see a black bar down the left side of your browser window. Hover over the "Posts" menu and select "All Posts" from the dropdown menu that appears. This will bring you to the "Posts" screen.
2. In the table of posts, hover your mouse over the row of the post that you want to edit, and a number of options will appear. Click the "Edit" (not "Quick Edit") link that appears. This will take you to the "Edit Post" screen.
3. Make your changes to the title, content and categories of the post.
4. When you are done, click the blue "Update" button along the right side of the page.

1. Once you have logged in, you will see a black bar down the left side of your browser window. Hover over the "Posts" menu and select "All Posts" from the dropdown menu that appears. This will bring you to the "Posts" screen.
2. In the table of posts, hover your mouse over the row of the post that you want to edit, and a number of options will appear. Click the "Trash" link that appears. This will remove the post from visibility, but will not delete it permanently.

If you accidentally delete a post, don't worry! You can get it back by going to the "Posts" screen (see above) and doing the following:

1. In the list of options right under the "Posts" header, click on "Trash." This will bring you to the list of trashed posts.
2. In the table of posts, hover your mouse over the row of the post that you want to resurrect, and click the "Restore" link that appears.

To receive Stórfréttir posts directly to your email, you can either:

• Subscribe to the Baronial mailing list. Stórfréttir posts are automatically posted to the Baronial email list.
• You can subscribe directly to Stórfréttir posts by visiting the Stórfréttir page and entering your email into the "Subscribe to Stórfréttir" widget along the right side of the page. and clicking the "Submit" button. You will then receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription. Once you follow the instructions in that email, you will start receive Stórfréttir posts directly to your email address.
