Court Report for BMDL Virtual Twelfth Night
January 16, AS LV (2021)

The Court of Their Excellencies, Brandubh and Hilderun, Baron and Baroness of the Debatable Lands at the Virtual BMDL Twelfthnight celebration, January 16, 2021, AS 55. Court heralded by Kieran MacRae, Comet Pursuivant.

The populace is asked to turn off their video, and mute their audio before court opens. It is announced that this court is being recorded.

Their Excellencies asked for a moment of silence for the far too many friends that have been lost this past year. They then proclaimed that the late Master Remus Fletcher, a fighter, musician, A&S Minister, and entertainer, be a Copernicus in memoriam. Scroll wording by His Excellency Brandubh, calligraphy by THLady Rachel Dalicieux, and illumination by Master Alaric MacConnal.

Their Excellencies invited Lady Svava of St. Swithins Bog to turn on her camera if she so wishes. She was praised for her fine work handsewing garb, and was awarded a silver comet. Scroll *and* the walnut ink used for the calligraphy by Lady Nichola Beese.

Their Excellencies invited Mistress Irene von Schmetterling to turn her video on if she so chooses. Mistress Irene has given many years of service to the BMDL in the form of service to the fencing community, including current online fencing activities, and for her work with the fiber guild. For such exemplary service she was awarded a gold comet. Scroll, based upon a MS from 1420 Cologne, by Mistress Arianna of Wynthrope.

Next, Their Excellencies invited Lady Elizabeth Parker to turn on her video, so she could be praised for her service to the barony as newly retired Chatelaine, and as part of the I Genisii commedia troupe. She was awarded a gold comet. Scroll wording by Mistress Arianna of Wynthrope, calligraphy and illumination by Lady Rose O'Tierney, inspired by the Mira Calligraphiae Monumenta.

Speaking of Mistress Arianna of Wynthrope, Their Excellencies next invited her to turn her camera on if she wishes. To recognize her years of service with the Debatable Choir as its director, creator of so many scrolls for recognizing so many worthy gentles in this barony, and as autocrat of fine events, she was awarded a gold comet. Scroll wording by Master Alaric MacConnal, calligraphy and illumination by Lady Rose O'Tierney, inspired by Biblioteca Apostolica, 1470.

Next, Their Excellencies invited THLord Rhys of Myles Ende to turn his video on, and then invited to open a box delivered to him. He does! (yay) He removes a hand painted ceramic mug praising Rhys for his fighting skills and awarding him an iron comet, but wait! He pulls out a second mug, which is also hand painted, which extols the garb research skills of Casey Redmane and is an award of a silver comet for her. Mugs painted by Ihtiaziz bint al-Gani.

Their Excellencies invite Scheiny of Dalhraidia to turn on her video if she would like. Her interest, skill, and enthusiasm for weaving and other fiber arts are exemplary and as such would be awarded a silver comet. Scroll by Mistress Arianna of Wynthrope based on 13th c. Irish topography of Ireland.

Next, Their Excellencies invite Niall mac Raedwulf to turn his video on if he so chooses. Niall has shown excellence as an archer in defense of the Debatable Lands, most notably for war points earned at Pennsic, and was awarded an iron comet. Scroll by Reinhardt von Regenbogen.

THLady Silence de Cherbourg is next to by invited by Their Excellencies to turn on her video. As a former BMDL bardic champion, runner of bardic circles, and amazing bardic skills in general, Their Excellencies saw it right to award Silence a silver comet. Scroll by THLady Gesa of Wellenstein.

Their Excellencies then invited Mistress Tsvee'a bas Tseepora Levi to turn her video on for a special presentation. As last year was so very rough for her, members of our barony banded together to get her a special gift to celebrate Tsvee'a's 40th anniversary as a member of the BMDL. A (safe and as socially distanced as possible) presentation was made at her house presenting her with yards of very special fabric for her for future projects. A scroll was also presented to her, limned by THLord Owen Tegg and scrivened by THLady Ceindrech ferch Elidir, with a achievement of arms and list of benefactors.

Their Excellencies thanked the scribes involved in all scrolls (and mugs) that were awarded this evening. They then thanked the event's staff and Zoomerators: Sumayya, Sven, Alaric, Angus, Svava, Forveleth, Ordriana, and Elss, for their help to make this virtual event as special as possible.

Their Excellencies wished all in attendance to take special care on that icy drive home (wink-wink), thanked everyone for attending and making the virtual event special, and invited all to stay for Comet Chat afterwards.

Before closing, Their Excellencies announced that not only did Forveleth help with Zoomerating today, but it was her very first event!

There being no further business, the Court of Their Excellencies was closed. Reported by Kieran MacRae, Comet Pursuivant.
