Nobles!

The Iris Festival is in just over two weeks!

We have a terrific lineup of classes for you. Here are the details about them:

Minister of the Lists Training (Baroness Vika Viborgskaya) – We need you! Fighting can not happen without an MOL at an event. Join Her Excellency to learn how you can help grow our numbers, learn how to check fighters in and learn tournament formats. She will also be reviewing the running of tournaments so if you feel a bit rusty come get a polishing. 1hr

Resist-Dyed Furoshiki Make and Take (The Honorable Lady Oribe Tsukime) – Learn how to do the type of stitched resist dyeing called bōshi shibori, and put your new skill to use dyeing a Japanese carrying cloth. If you’re wearing clothes you’re not willing to risk, Her Ladyship will put it in the dye for you. Limit: 15. Materials Cost: $5. 2 hrs

Loops of cord are passed from hand to hand, forming braids. Three basic five-loop braids will be covered. Younger attendees may need extra assistance. 1 hr

New Baronial Thrown Weapons Champion!

Hello Debatable Lands! Salve Accolens!

This past Sunday, we held our annual Thrown Weapons Championship.

Many thanks to our outgoing Champ and TW Marshal, THL Meinolfr. He created a varied and interesting throw, designed to showcase skill in ax, knife and spear. We witnessed all 6 entrants have a great time, and they included both a new thrower and a youth thrower, and new Debatable Landers from legacy Griffins Keep, and Greater Æthelmearc. It was so much fun!

It was a very close tourney, but the winner your new Thrown Weapons Champ: Lord Rhys Dunlop! Lord Rónán Ó Conaill will be standing as second.

Troll Help Needed for Iris Festival – June 10, 2023

Hello neighbors!
The June Iris Festival is coming up, and I need people to help run the troll table. We need two people at the table the whole time; please send me your availability and how long you’re willing to help out (forveleth@gmail.com).

No experience is necessary; everything you need to do will be explained when you get there. The troll table at the Iris Festival site has an excellent view of the horse arena, so it’s a great way to contribute to the event and watch the equestrian games at the same time. Finally, please forward this announcement to any other people or lists that might be interested!

Thank you, and looking forward to seeing you there!
Best,
Laird Forveleth Dunde
Iris Festival head troll

Sharing Information with the Debatablelands and The Kingdom

Quick PSA: Social-media hip Æthelmearcians, please remember that many of our friends and fellow Æthelmearcians do not use social media. If you want to reach everyone, shoot your post out via email to announcements@aethelmearc.org. To reach your Barony you can email 2 places until we get the forwarder working again; sca-bmdl@lists.andrew.cmu.edu and sca-bmdl@googlegroups.com

Even if you just email them a Non-Facebook link to your group or kingdom website regarding events. They really want to know what’s going on and where to be and they have real world reasons for not using social media, like a job, not wanting it, personal safety or something else that makes it better not to use social media platforms.

Baroness Hilderun pointed out that non-facebook users can see your event page but they can only read what is listed in the “About” section of the page. Keep that in mind when directing people to Facebook for more details! Thanks for the tip, Your Excellency!

In Service,
Muirgheal, Seneschal Debatable
