Since the weather looks like it’s going to cooperate, and I still have the gear from last week’s practices burning a hole in my car, let’s have another mid-week practice!
I’ll be at the Washington Blvd. site (our usual practice spot) tomorrow evening from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm (or until everyone is done shooting). If you need loaner gear for Wednesday, please e-mail me at webminister@debatablelands.org.
It is once again time for the Barony Social Meeting and New Comer Garb Swap!
Please join us Sunday July 16, 2023 at North Park in the picnic shelters called Devils Elbow 1 and 2 (near the hockey rink).
This practice will include the scheduled Heavy Weapons tournament and has a large field suitable for fencing and rattan combat. Archery and Axes are not permitted in North Park.
Mistress Constance Glyn Dwr will lead the Garb Swap; those who have donations please bring them with you! We will set up to allow those who have not participated or have recently joined us to accept gently loved garments, fabric, feast gear, ect.
We do NOT have the alcohol permit and we are not allowed to have glass.
Please continue to watch the Blog for more updates!
A Big Round of Applause for Her Ladyship Elss of Augsburg for helping secure our site!
Championship Tournaments are coming up in the month of July!
July 9th will be the Fencing Championship, Master Cyrus will be running the tournament to select our next Fencing Champion. This will also be a Garnet and Steel event, where the winner of the tournament will win an invitation coin to the upcoming Garnet and Steel Tournament next year.
July 16 at baronial social meeting, more to follow on change of location, will also feature our Heavy Fighting Championship, Master William will preside over this tournament to select Our new Fighting Champion.
July 23rd will be the Archery Championship. Baroness Anastasie is working up a fun tournament to determine our next Archery Champion.
Many Thanks to our champions Cyrus, William and Anastasie, who have served the Barony well over the past year, and we look forward to seeing whose skill will win the honors in July.
As a reminder, Our champions have 1 obligation: That the champion and the second accompany us and compete in the 7 Pearls Inter baronial Championship for bragging rights against all other Baronial Champions in Aethelmearc. This year 7 Pearls will be hosted by the Barony of Thescorre on August 26. Our Champions have the invitation to process into court with us, to stand as our champions as part of our court (or not if this is uncomfortable). The champions also have invitations to compete in the Known World Baronial Championship Tournaments at Pennsic which are a grand amount of fun, and some great challenges to compete against other Baronial Champions from across the known world.
Due to our Captain of the Archers being out of town this weekend, I will be running the line for archery practice for our regular time this Sunday (June 25th) at the Washington Boulevard location. Please note that, due to mundane commitments on Sunday mornings, practice may not start until around 11:30 am.
I will also be bringing equipment so that we can have a mid-week practice tomorrow evening (June 22nd), 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at the same location.
There is online sewing tonight at 7:30pm. You know, Pennsic will be here sooner than you think. If you aren’t done with that outfit or with the alterations or repairs that you had to do, you better get going. There is online sewing tonight. You don’t have to leave your place to work, but if you join us on zoom we can cheer you on. Contact sewing (at) debatablelands (dot) org for the zoom information.
If you have a project that you want help with, or would like to contribute to the ongoing scroll case sewing project, or just want to sewing with others in person, come join me this Sunday, June 18th, from 2-5pm. My address is 1105 Shady Ave, Pittsburgh 15232.
Coming to you live and in technicolor, it’s your chatelaine Svava! I’m actually in a bit of a pickle and looking for assistance from everyone.
As you know, part of my role is helping folks new to the SCA and new to the area find their niche in our game. From rapier to scribal to cooking and forestry, we have so many wonderful groups and guilds in our barony. I love seeing the various ways people play in the SCA and the different interests one could explore! I’d love to help people find new parts of the SCA they can fall in love with.
~HOWEVER~
Finding the information about these groups and their meetings is rough, even for me. If you run any official SCA activity in the barony could you please take a moment to check if it’s listed correctly on the baronial calendar and under the What We Do header on the website? This would help me guide folks curious about your area of interest to you AND show what a vibrant and active community we have in the barony.
If you find your meeting or practice information is incorrect or missing, please reach out to the Web Minister at webminister@debatablelands.org
If you need something added to the calendar, you can email the Seneschal at seneschal@debatabelands.org

I’d like to start with lost and found, because if I don’t you will miss it in all the thanks. There was a palm leaf fan left in the picnic pavilion. Please contact sbooth (at) sbooth (dot) net, if it is yours or if you know who the owner is.
