Baronial Election News

Salve Accolens Debatable Lands!

As we move into the next phase of the Baronial Election, we now have an election page on the Debatable Lands Website featuring pictures and statements from our candidates. Please click the link and check it out:

Also we are still experiencing delays in getting mailing labels from the corporate office due to data base upgrades and weather closures. Ballots will be mailed as soon as we receive that information. We will keep everyone in the loop as to what the next steps are.

Cheers,

Online Sewing Thursday January 19th and upcoming in-person Japanese garb sewing Saturdays

The next online sewing circle is Thursday Jan 19th at 7:30. Please contact sewing (at) debatablelands (dot) org for the zoom information. The zoom link changed after the first of the year. One topic for this month’s sewing circle is fabric recommendations, quantities needed, and cutting layouts for basic Japanese garments of hakama (skirt or pants), kosode, and obi. This is to prepare for the in-person Japanese garb sewing Saturdays. However, you don’t have to be interested in Japanese clothing to attend the online sewing.

Concerning the in-person Japanese garb sewing, it will be on these Saturdays in February: 11th, 18th, and 25th. There is also sewing planned for the March Barony meeting on Sunday March 5th. For the February sewing Saturdays, they will be held at my house in Shadyside, 1105 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh 15232. There is no zoom planned for them because I will be busy helping people construct basic hakama pants or skirt, kosode short or long Japanese garments. If you want to attend in-person sewing Saturday, please email sewing (at) debatablelands (dot) org. I’d like to limit the number of visitors to 5 each Saturday. There will be a few sewing machines available, but if you plan to finish sewing at home, you may want to bring your own machine. Masks are required in the house, but there is a heated garage and I plan to have corsi-rosenthal box filter so there is mask not required eating and drinking area. I will prepare a class handout that will be available after the sewing dates.

The reason for Japanese garb sewing is the Japanese Iris Festival and Barony Equestrian Champs on June 10th at the horse arena in nearby Bradys Run Park. For more details see the event announcements: http://debatablelands.org/blog/?p=6043
