The Honorable Lord Cai writes:
Greetings to the Barony from Cai o’r Llyn, Baronial Dancemaster!
I’ve served as the Barony’s dancemaster for over 10 years (how long exactly is lost to the mists of time), and I feel it is time for me to step down. As a result, I am calling for Letters of Intent to take my place.
Letters of intent should include a brief SCA resume, especially including experience with SCA dance. Letters should be sent to myself (jeffhos[at]gmail[dot]com) and the A&S Minister (ansminister[at]debatablelands[dot]org), and received by April 6th, as a replacement will be selected at the officers meeting that night.
The job of Baronial Dancemaster involves hosting a regular baronial dance practice (Regularity is up to you; I ran it weekly for many years before switching to monthly when there was less interest). It may also involve running balls and teaching dance at local events.
If you have any questions about the position, feel free to contact me!

The Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands invites you to a Regional Muster celebrating Archery, Thrown Weapons, Youth Fighting and Arts & Sciences at the Castle home of Their Royal Highnesses of AEthelmearc Byron and Ariella on April 10th. This is the day after Their Coronation. The muster will begin at 10:00 in the morning and continue until 5:00 pm.
The archery and thrown weapons ranges will be open at 10:00 am and archery from the towers, led by THL Deryk Archer, will begin at 1:00 pm.
The main archery goal this day is to shoot and submit rounds for the
Gwyntarian Winter Challenge which closes later that week. There will also be training if we have enough marshals. The Barony’s loaner gear will be available.
Please bring something for a pot luck. We’re going to be there all day, so let’s eat. Pop, water, plates, bowls, and utensils will all be provided.
Their Highnesses have asked that you dress in garb for the day.
The Castle address is 755 Stonegate Drive, Wexford PA 15090.

The Maridon Museum in Butler, just North of our Fine Barony in the lovely Shire of Sunderoak, is hosting a series of monthly talks on Thursday evenings about collecting and collectors.
If you’ve never been to the Maridon, they have a lovely collection of Chinese and Japanese artworks, plus a room full of European Meissen porcelain including a set of Commedia del Arte figures.
This seems like a lovely way to find your way up there to meet some people and see the museum. See the Maridon’s web site and the flyer for more information.
There was a very nice turnout for the invasion of Ballachlagan, including some of our friends from St. Swithin’s Bog.
We worked on some melee tactics and had plenty of people to fight one-on-ones with as well.
In that spirit let’s continue this next Sunday at Silva Vulcani at their fencing muster.
From Duke Christopher, Kingdom Seneschale:
The following was just passed along to me by the Seneschal of Meridies. If you are driving to Gulf Wars you should pay attention to this as this closure does effect one of the major routes south from some parts of Æthelmearc. The report notes that the road could be closed for up to three weeks.
Master Aylwin writes:
I wanted to inform the populace of your Great and Fair Kingdom about the Road Closure of I75 South in Tennessee. As you may already know this, I just wanted to touch base with you so that those headed south for Gulf Wars can choose another route to war besides I75.
Please post this information in those places you deem appropriate to relieve your citizens from being stuck for hours in slow and standing traffic on the way to Gulf Wars using I75.

The Scriptorium (and associated class) scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday, 24 February 2016) at Mistress Odriana’s home has been cancelled due to illness.
Just a reminder, there will be no heavy fight practice on February 28 due to the school being unavailable that day. For those wishing to still get some fighting in, the Shire of Ballachlagan’s practice site is only about an hour away.
The Baronial Knight Marshal writes:
Greetings heavy fighters,
Heavy practice will resume at its normal location, the Pittsburgh Environmental Charter School, on Sunday, February 21, beginning at 2 PM.
I know some people will still be at the Adult Swim Fighter Practice in Milton, PA, so if those who will be in town for the local practice can let me know that they will be there, it will help for planning purposes.
