In-person Sewing 2/11, 2/18, 2/25

There are in-person sewing Saturdays in February. The first one is this Saturday 2/11. The location is 1105 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232. The goal is to help people make Japanese garments. I will help you make a hakama pants or skirt and/or a short or long kosode. There are machines here, but you can also bring your own.

Ideally, you should have linen or cotton already washed. If you are using wide linen 55″, then you need about 4 yards for hakama and short kosode, you need five yards for long kosode. If you are using narrow cotton 44″, add an extra yard. So 5 yards for hakama and short kosode, and 6 for long kosode. (actual amounts may vary depending on your dimensions).

Sewing starts at noon and goes to six. Masks are required and eating food is not allowed inside. Drinks must be drunk from a straw with masks on. I will have a heated area in the garage with corsi-rosenthal boxes to allow some mask free space.

If you plan to come, please let me know, sewing (at) debatablelands (dot) org.
