PLEASE READ: Info about the Baronial Election

Hello Debatable Lands! Salve Accolens!

This message contains important deadline information for Baronial election nominations and requesting ballots if you would not automatically receive one. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

The nomination meeting for the upcoming Baronial election is coming up this Sunday, November 13th, at the November Harvest Revel Social (which features lots of other fun as well! Welcome all!).

You many nominate individuals or couples (others or yourselves) either at the nomination meeting on Sunday, November 13th in North Park at the Rose Barn (see link above for details) by voice or written note, or you may nominate candidates in writing BEFORE the nomination meeting by emailing Baron Brandubh at baron@debatablelands.org. The Baron will acknowledge all emails with a reply. If you didn’t get a reply, he didn’t get your email.

Nominations will not be accepted after the nomination meeting closes (it will close before the end of the Revel, exact time TBA). Please take a moment to read and understand more details, found here: http://debatablelands.org/blog/?p=5918

Nominated candidates then have one month to decide whether to accept or decline the nomination – no need to decide that day. Individuals may appear in more than one nomination but may only accept one – that is, no individual may occur on the ballot more than once. Nominations must be accepted in writing by Dec 13th, 2022.

Ballots are sent by postal mail. Once the ballot is set, mailing addresses will be requested from the Corporate office. Eligible voters are those that are on the SCA Inc’s membership list (that is, have a current membership the SCA), are 17 years old or older as of the ballot tally, and who reside in the Debatable Lands’ Zip Codes.

IF YOU WANT A BALLOT FOR THE BARONIAL ELECTION, PLEASE CHECK THAT YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS OR WILL BE CURRENT AS OF DEC 1st, AND THAT YOU RESIDE IN DEBATABLE LANDS’ ZIP CODES. See link in this post for a list of zip codes: http://debatablelands.org/blog/?p=5918

IMPORTANT!! If you would not receive a ballot under these conditions, and you have exceptional circumstances, there is a provision in our policies for requesting a ballot. However, the deadline for such a request is the date of the nominating meeting, or November 13th, 2022. It must be received in writing by the Chair of the Selection Committee by that date. Again, see our policies.

You may not request a ballot after the date of the nominating meeting (if you wouldn’t have otherwise received one). You will not receive a ballot if your membership is not current as of Dec 1st, 2022. PLEASE CHECK THAT YOUR ADDRESS THAT’S ON FILE WITH THE CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP OFFICE IS CORRECT.

Baron Brandubh and Baroness Hilda are serving jointly as the Chair of the Selection Committee. Contacting the Chair in writing consists of emailing baron@debatablelands.org. You will receive a reply acknowledging your email. If you don’t receive a reply, please contact us via a different method to discuss.

It’s an exciting time for our Barony! See you Sunday!
