Salve Accolens, Debatable Lands!
Our very own Mistress Ts’vee’a (mka Gail Lefkowitz) is collecting memories to display on a “wall of quotes” celebrating the 50th Birthday of our very own Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands! There will be six prompts in total, posted on Stórfréttir, Facebook and Discord through May 18. Anyone, not just Debatable Landers, is welcome to submit a response. Please include your SCA name at the beginning of each response; you can email responses to lefkowitzga@gmail.com.
So, with all of that settled, here is the first prompt:
1. Talk about your first event in the Debatable Lands. What was the event and what was it like? Date if you remember? Who did you meet and what were they like?
Yours in Service,
Finé Fáiláin of the Debatable Lands

Hi all, from Niall!
Martial season is in full swing, and our archers’ ranks continue to grow and improve with each practice! Fencing practice this Sunday, May 5th, is cancelled in support of the Region 1 Muster near Morgantown, WV, 1.5-2 hour’s drive south of Pittsburgh. Debatable Lands loaner gear will be available at the muster, and event details can be found on the Kingdom website: https://aethelmearc.org/event/region-1-muster/
Other Sunday martial practices will be held as normal.
I do not anticipate being back from Blackstone Raids in time to run practice, therefore I am canceling this week. See you all on Sunday 5/5.
Guillaume
Hi all, from Niall!
Archery practice will occur Sunday as originally scheduled, with Godzimir marshaling. (There was some uncertainty at the end of last week’s practice whether we would have practice or cancel.)
Please e-mail archerymarshal@debatablelands.org if you need loaner gear.
Turlough, Brandubh, and Ishiyama got a bunch of work done on the gate project last Sunday, but there is still plenty more to do. If we get enough of it done, we might be able to try first assembly and make sure this thing stands up! Towards that end, let’s meet at the Sunday practice (Washington Boulevard site unless it’s raining) again (April 28) and put in a few more hours. Ishiyama can’t bring the lumber until after lunchtime, so there is plenty of time in the morning for other stuff.
I know that some of you will still be at Blackstone Raids, and some of you are not able to help with woodworking, but there will be a least a few more work sessions (including probably at War Practice), and a few different kinds of work to do (including general finishing and painted lettering) so don’t worry about missing out.
