Hello Debatable Lands!
With the current weather, lightning in the forecast, and a soggy practice site, I’ve decided to cancel archery practice for today. Enjoy the extended post-Pennsic rest. We’ll be back at it next week.
Stay dry!

Hello all!
Pittsburgh weather sometimes makes fools of us all. Tonight’s mid-week archery practice has been canceled. But never fear! We will be back to try again tomorrow!
Join us at the Washington Blvd practice site tomorrow June 23rd from 5:30-8:30pm for an evening of archery practice.
Hope to see you there!

Archers of the Debatable Lands!
Tomorrow, June 22nd from 5:30pm to 8:30pm (or whenever the sun goes down these days) Lord Godzimir the Golden will be holding another weekday evening archery practice at the Washington Boulevard site. Let’s take advantage of these long summer nights while we can!
Happy solstice and happy shooting!

Greetings archers of the Debatable Lands!
I am officially putting out a call for marshals-in-training for target archery in our Barony! Some of you have already reached out to me and some of you have already begun training, but I would like to get a definitive headcount of all who are interested in becoming marshals. The duties of an archery marshal include:
The Marshal’s Handbook can be found on the Kingdom Earl Marshal page at marshal.aethelmearc.org. In the headings at the top of the page, the society wide handbook is under Society Rules and the Kingdom handbook is under Policies. All marshals and MITs must know both rulesets.
If you would like to be an archery marshal then please send me a message either via facebook, or via email at archerymarshal at debatablelands dot org.
*Note: You must be a member of the SCA with an active membership in order to be a marshal.
Thank you all for your interest in volunteering! See you on the range!
In service,
Ronan O Conaill

Archers of the Debatable Lands!
This Wednesday, June 1st from 5pm to 8pm we will be holding another weekday evening archery practice at the Washington Boulevard site. This continuation of our occasional weekday evening practice sessions will once again be led by Lord Godzimir the Golden. So come out and join everyone to enjoy an evening of archery!
Happy shooting!
From the court report of Æthelmearc War Practice XXXI:
Scrolls went out from the following local scribes:
My apologies if I missed anybody. Please let me know and I will add items to this list for the permanent record.
Archers of the Debatable Lands!
This Tuesday, May 24th from 5pm to 8pm we will be holding a weekday evening archery practice at the Washington Boulevard site! To make up for missing practice today we will be holding a practice that evening led by Lord Godfrey de Bayeaux. So come out and join us to enjoy an evening of archery!
Hope to see you there!
Greetings Debatable Lands!
Given that some of our equipment and a number of our marshals are at War Practice right now, I will not be holding practice tomorrow at Washington Blvd. I hope everyone in attendance at War Practice is having a blast!
On that note, congratulations to our own Lady Gredechin Mörin de Nordenberg for winning the distance shoot on Friday, and congratulations to the new Kingdom Archery Champion, Baron Snorri!
Vivat!

There are two Arts and Sciences activities being run at next month’s Japanese Iris Festival event (June 4, 2022 – 121 Brady’s Run Rd, Beaver Falls, PA 15010).
The first is the Iron Comet A&S Competition. The competition has no theme, and accepts all types of projects. The competition is mandatory for anyone in the Iron Comet Challenge, but it is open to everyone. Anyone can win, but only those participating in the martial competitions will receive tournament points.
The second is the Festival A&S Display. The display is also open to any type of project, but projects displaying arts of Eastern Asia are encouraged. There are no points awarded, no judging, and no winner. Please bring all your most interesting, most useful, most attractive, and most intense projects to show. Research and instruction are not required, but we would love to see any supporting documentation if you have it, and enjoy having you answer questions about your work if you’re not busy elsewhere. You can display as many items as you wish, but if you need a lot of room please consider bringing your own tables and possibly your own shelter.
Both activities will be under shelter, but this event is primarily outdoors so please be prepared to protect your entries from stray raindrops and errant breezes. By site policy, no glass bottles are allowed.
You do not need to register your entries or display items ahead of time, but if you want to send email to let event staff know what you are bringing or if you have any questions, please contact “ansminister (at) debatablelands.org”.
Given how swampy the field is likely to be and with lightning in the forecast, I’m canceling archery practice today. Hopefully the weather will be more cooperative next week.
