Mid-Week Archery Practice, Wednesday

Hi all from Niall!

With the Baronial Archery Championship Shoot approaching this coming Sunday at our regular practice at Washington Blvd., I will be setting up and running a mid-week practice this Wednesday (July 19) at our usual spot, from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm (or we drop). Remember to bring water and sunscreen so you don’t get dehydrated or burned.

Yours in service,
Niall mac Raedwulf

Mid-week Archery Practice, Wednesday

Since the weather looks like it’s going to cooperate, and I still have the gear from last week’s practices burning a hole in my car, let’s have another mid-week practice!

I’ll be at the Washington Blvd. site (our usual practice spot) tomorrow evening from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm (or until everyone is done shooting). If you need loaner gear for Wednesday, please e-mail me at webminister@debatablelands.org.

Yours in service,
Niall mac Raedwulf

Archery Practice Thursday and Sunday

Salve accolens, Debatable Lands archers!

Due to our Captain of the Archers being out of town this weekend, I will be running the line for archery practice for our regular time this Sunday (June 25th) at the Washington Boulevard location. Please note that, due to mundane commitments on Sunday mornings, practice may not start until around 11:30 am.

I will also be bringing equipment so that we can have a mid-week practice tomorrow evening (June 22nd), 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at the same location.

Yours in service,
Niall mac Raedwulf

ISO: Groups, Guilds, Meetings, and Practices

Hello everyone!

Coming to you live and in technicolor, it’s your chatelaine Svava! I’m actually in a bit of a pickle and looking for assistance from everyone.

As you know, part of my role is helping folks new to the SCA and new to the area find their niche in our game. From rapier to scribal to cooking and forestry, we have so many wonderful groups and guilds in our barony. I love seeing the various ways people play in the SCA and the different interests one could explore! I’d love to help people find new parts of the SCA they can fall in love with.

~HOWEVER~

Finding the information about these groups and their meetings is rough, even for me. If you run any official SCA activity in the barony could you please take a moment to check if it’s listed correctly on the baronial calendar and under the What We Do header on the website? This would help me guide folks curious about your area of interest to you AND show what a vibrant and active community we have in the barony.

If you find your meeting or practice information is incorrect or missing, please reach out to the Web Minister at webminister@debatablelands.org

Thank You Kindly,
Svava

Mid-week archery practice is happening on Wednesday!

Hello Debatable Lands!

Do you wish you could practice your archery more than once a week? Well you’re in luck! This week on Wednesday June 14th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Lord Godzimir the Golden will be holding another weekday evening archery practice at the Washington Boulevard site.

Come on out and sharpen your skills as we shoot until the sun goes down!

Here’s the archery schedule for the rest of May

Hello Debatable Lands!

There are a lot of great opportunities for archery coming up in the next month. Here’s what our schedule looks like for the next few weeks:

  • May 14th – Regular practice at the Washington Blvd. site from 11am – 2pm.
  • May 21st – *PRACTICE CANCELLED* Come to War Practice instead and shoot in the Kingdom Archery Championship on Sat. May 20th!
  • May 28th – The Sky List Tournament! Come shoot in the latest competition in the Stellar Tournament series, the Sky List! This month’s winner will win a little something extra! Details below. (Regular practice will also take place at the site from 11am – 2pm.)
  • Sat. June 3rd – Scarlet Guard Inn! This 8th annual event run by the Shire of Hunter’s Home and the Scarlet Guard is back, and it’s the most archery you’ll ever find at any SCA event all year! You won’t want to miss this one!

And now for the big news: The winner of this month’s Sky List will also be chosen as the Debatable Lands champion, and with a signed letter from our Seneschal, will be able to compete in a special tournament at the Scarlet Guard Inn! Let’s do our best and show the rest of the kingdom what we’re made of!

That’s all the archery we have to look forward to this month. If you need to borrow our loaner gear feel free to reach out to me on Facebook or Discord, or email me at archerymarshal at debatablelands.org.

Hope to see you all out on the range!

Save the Date: July 10th – Barony Meeting with Garb & Gear Swap! And Martial Practices (NEW location)

Salve accolens! Hello Debatable Lands!

Save the date! Sunday, July 10th will be an in-person Barony Meeting, held in conjunction with our normal martial practices.

Since parking is an issue at the normal site, the July 10th practices and Barony Social Meeting will not be held at our normal site near the zoo. Instead, Jasmine is opening her fields to us. Address is 14 Quail Run Ln, Allison Park 15101.

Also, Baroness Constance is holding the annual Garb and Gear Giveaway/Exchange! Please go through your old garb, camping gear, sewing supplies, sca bits and bobs, etc, and bring them to the July meeting. If you have things to donate but can’t make it, she can arrange to pick them up. Thank you, everyone!!

This is an SCA function, so Covid precautions apply.

More info closer to the day. See you there!

Your A&S Minister has no organized activity lined up, but if people want to spend some time in the open air working on their own personal projects, I will probably be at the Washington Boulevard practice site some time before noon until some time in the afternoon.

Although the SCA complies with all applicable laws to try to ensure the health and safety of our event participants, we cannot eliminate the risk of exposure to infectious diseases during in-person events. By participating in the in-person events of the SCA, you acknowledge and accept the potential risks. You agree to take any additional steps to protect your own health and safety and those under your control as you believe to be necessary.
