Calling all archers! MITs wanted!

Greetings archers of the Debatable Lands!

I am officially putting out a call for marshals-in-training for target archery in our Barony! Some of you have already reached out to me and some of you have already begun training, but I would like to get a definitive headcount of all who are interested in becoming marshals. The duties of an archery marshal include:

  • Inspecting participants’ equipment
  • Assisting in the setup and teardown of the range
  • Assisting the marshal-in-charge with calling the line
  • Ensuring all rules and safety standards are upheld
  • Submitting a quarterly report to the Kingdom Archery Marshal

The Marshal’s Handbook can be found on the Kingdom Earl Marshal page at marshal.aethelmearc.org. In the headings at the top of the page, the society wide handbook is under Society Rules and the Kingdom handbook is under Policies. All marshals and MITs must know both rulesets.

If you would like to be an archery marshal then please send me a message either via facebook, or via email at archerymarshal at debatablelands dot org.

*Note: You must be a member of the SCA with an active membership in order to be a marshal.

Thank you all for your interest in volunteering! See you on the range!

In service,
Ronan O Conaill
Captain of Archers, Debatable Lands

Archery Practice tomorrow canceled

Greetings Debatable Lands!

Given that some of our equipment and a number of our marshals are at War Practice right now, I will not be holding practice tomorrow at Washington Blvd. I hope everyone in attendance at War Practice is having a blast!

On that note, congratulations to our own Lady Gredechin Mörin de Nordenberg for winning the distance shoot on Friday, and congratulations to the new Kingdom Archery Champion, Baron Snorri!

Vivat!
Ronan O Conaill

Starting this Sunday we will be resuming weekly practices at the site. For more details see the Baronial calendar at: http://debatablelands.org/calendar.php

Archery practice tomorrow is canceled

Hello Debatable Lands!

Tomorrow looks to be another cold and wet Sunday and so I’ve decided to cancel practice. Sorry to everyone who was hoping to get one last official practice in for the season, but it would seem the weather doesn’t want to cooperate.

But keep an eye on the blog for later announcements! We may still try for one more outdoor practice in December if people are up for it.

Also this winter be on the lookout for events hosted at Chieftain Archery, the indoor archery range where we occasionally hold events. For example, Lord Godfrey is organizing the 3rd annual BMDL Archers Potluck there on December 18th. Hope to see you there!

Sunday’s archery practice will include the next Stellar Tournament!

Archers of the Debatable Lands, this Sunday November 14th will be the next monthly installment of the Stellar Tournament – Sky List!

This month’s tournament will be held by Lord Godfrey, last month’s Defender of the Sky. Come out and shoot and see if you have what it takes to become this month’s Defender!

If you have any questions or if you would like to request loaner gear please email me at archerymarshal (at) debatablelands (dot) org.
