Thank You Baroness Isabel

Thank you Baroness Isabel for serving as our Barony’s Minister of Arts and Sciences. In the beforetimes when we had events, it was good to see you and your deputies there, reaching out to newcomers and established artisans in the Barony to organize us to work together. In these times when we are all more isolated for safety, it is more difficult to band together in the same ways that we used to.

During my term, I hope to provide direct support to both individual artisans and guilds, to draw out our best work and try to draw us together in spirit. We will do what we can for each other and for the Barony, like the friendly neighbors we are.

I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the Barony. Please, all of you, feel free to reach out to me if you think there is any way I can help you with your arts and research.

March Scriptorium: Finding the Right Inspiration

Scriptorium is the monthly gathering of calligraphers, illuminators, wordsmiths, and anyone interested in taking up and learning more about these creative arts. We welcome all skill levels, from the most accomplished Laurels to those that have never picked up a pen or a brush. Become part of creating the atmosphere and visual splendor of the SCA!

This month, join us on Wednesday, March 15th, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Kameshima and Isabel’s house in the North Hills. (Our address is listed in the Dark Pages, or you can contact us at scriptorium at debatablelands dot org for more information.) Our topic for March will be “Finding the Right Inspiration” taught by Mistress Arianna of Wynthrope.

Not sure how to find pages from medieval manuscripts and documents that you can use as the basis for your SCA scrolls? Learn where and how to search, as well as how to interpret what you find, so you can be sure that your scrolls are based on period sources.

Please be aware, our house contains a cat, a dog, and an infant: medicate or otherwise prepare yourself as necessary.
