Call for Letters – Chatelaine

Greetings good people of the Debatable Lands!

After a rather lengthy term that has spanned both times of plague and times of peace, my term as Chatelaine has come to an end. I do not intend to serve another term and so I am hereby putting forth a call for letters!

If you have an interest in becoming the next Chatelaine of the Debatable Lands please submit your letter of intent to Their Excellencies, Baron Brandubh and Baroness Hilderun, and to our Seneschal, Baroness Muirgheal by Aug. 24th, 2022. This is the date of our next business meeting where the candidates for the office will be voted upon.

If you have any questions about what the office of the Chatelaine entails, how to submit a letter of intent, or where to send your letter, please reach out to me at chatelaine@debatablelands.org.

It has been a pleasure serving you all!

In service,
Ronan Ó Conaill
Chatelaine of the Debatable Lands

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

On behalf of Yuengerz of House Clovenshield:

Greetings, I am pleased to inform you all that the BMDL has once again been invited to marche in the Pittsburgh St Patrick’s Day Parade. Grab your garb, don your armor and come down to help represent the Barony.
The float is still the same as above (upgrade ideas always welcome). We march, we show off our garb and our crafts and when the parade slows up a bit, our armored fighters give the crowds a heck of a display. Last year the AE Crowned Prince fought almost every step of the way and the crowds went crazy.
We start on Liberty Ave, the exact cross street will be given to us in about 2 weeks. The route is about 1 1/2 miles to the Blvd at Stanwix.
There is space on the trailer so you don’t have to walk the whole way.
Children are welcome. Boffers, too.
Garb is required. Armor is optimal. Fighting demos in front of hundreds of rowdy spectators is quite the rush.

Come on and join the fun.

Also, for those who use the Facebook, Yuengerz has created an event here:

Demo — August 30 — Save the Date!

Dear friends —

Save the date! I know everyone is super busy with Pennsic prep, but I wanted to let everyone know that we were invited to demo at the Children’s Museum Medieval Maker night on Thursday, August 30, from 6:30 to 9:30.

This is a 21 + event, so no clearances are required. They are looking for 20-25 demonstrators, and are looking for fiber artists (weavers, nalbinders, knitters, dyers, enbroiderers, and all the rest), calligraphers, illuminators, equestrians, fighters, fencers, siege engineers, musicians, singers, dancers, royalty – you name it!

i Genesii has been the first to step up, they will be running a play date and getting spectators involved! Who else will be there?

We had several makeshop demos with them, and they really like working with the SCA. They are very flexible and accommodating, so if you want to be a part of it, let me know!

More details to follow. It will be awesome!

Vivant to our new Chatelaine and Mistress of the Lists

BMDL_Seneschal_Official

At last night’s Officer’s meeting Elizabeth Parker was selected to be our new Chatelaine and Baroness Anna Eisenkopf was chosen as our new Baronial Mistress of the Lists. Vivant!

We would like to thank the outgoing Chatelaine, Lady Edana the Red, and the outgoing Mistress of the Lists, Baroness Elizabeth Arrowsmith, for their service in those positions. Your work was, and is, very much appreciated. Thank you.

Odriana, Seneschal
